About this funding pot

Without Wings provides funding towards these services on a case-by-case basis. Apply here.

Why?

If you have an autoimmune diagnosis, especially one that affects mobility, finding a form of exercise that suits you is essential. Weight bearing activities can also help maintain bone density which can be affected both by lack of movement and also certain medications.

How?

With some autoimmune conditions, moving safely is your most important consideration. This is especially so if you have damaged joints or restricted mobility.

Lynsey’s Fund is particularly useful for activities that are aerobic and strength-building, but also gentle on the joints. These include exercises such as swimming, yoga, Pilates and gym work. For non-joint affecting autoimmune we of course fund other forms of exercise. Let us know what you need in the application form.

Precautions

This funding pot is not recommended if you are presently unwell. It is also essential that you discuss any exercise programme with your main healthcare provider.

If you have an autoimmune condition that affects your joints, think about talking to a physiotherapist. Noble’s Rheumatology now have their own in-house physiotherapist. They should be able to give you a safe programme of activity. If taking exercise classes, always inform your teacher of your condition and any physical limitations.

Please remember to keep and submit all receipts from services we fund.
